Spring 2012 "Journey to the Centre of the Earth"

Here are the pieces I worked on all of last semester. I really kicked myself while getting to these final conclusions, to the point where I almost gave up entirely. For some reason I couldn't see them from my imagination's eyes. I was seeing them from an outside perspective from my own, and I wasn't fooling anyone with my awkward views and jarring angles. Somewhere along the line, Juan Carlos Porras showed me how to start drawing perspective grids on top of every thumbnail and said that eventually I wouldn't need them anymore. A week before the semester ended, I fully realized what that meant; I was finally INSIDE of my compositions. My imagination was running wild and I wasn't happy with each of these environments until they looked exactly like what I was seeing up there. I want to thank everyone that gave me advice along the way, if it weren't for you I might not be enrolling this semester.

I posted these character designs even though I'm really not happy with any of them. They weren't anything like what I imagined, but I think I'll get there eventually. If I could do it with environments, the people can't be far behind.
